NOMADIC MUSEUM
Classes presentation
The museum offers four workshops to create a dialogue between the children and the abenaki nation. The students will discover many aspects of the traditional way of life, the past heritage and have a contemporary look on the first nations.
Workshop 1: Cultural and material lifestyle
- Presentation based on the following concepts: nomadic/sedentary, man and woman tasks, life and seasons cycle.
- Presentation and handling of traditional objects: baskets, bow, drum, bone tools, etc.

Workshop 2: Fables and legends
- Presentation based on the oral tradition concept: teaching the native culture in the context of the legends.
Lenght : 45 to 50 minutes
Cost : 1.50$/child
Workshop 3: Handcrafting
- Initiate the children to the handcrafting by making them create their own object.
Lenght : 30 minutes
Cost: 3.00$/child
Workshop 4: The seasons in our plate. (traditional nutrition)
- Through the seasons, the students discover the food feeding the body and the symbolic universe of the abenaki : corn, strawberry, cranberry, sunflower, fern (fiddlehead fern) with a drink and a traditional bread (bannique).
